40+ easy Ramadan recipes for suhoor & iftar, plus meal prep tips for a stress-free month. Quick suhoor meals, comforting iftar dishes & more!

If you need a quick reference point for what to make the fasting month, I have 40 (-ish!) Ramadan recipes for you!
Ramadan is a month of reflection, devotion, and togetherness… but it can also be a month where meal planning can feel particularly overwhelming. Between early suhoor (sahur) meals and the rush to prepare iftar, cooking can feel daunting, especially when energy levels are low.
That’s why I compiled this quick list of go-to Ramadan recipes that are quick, easy and delicious—so you can spend less time figuring out what to cook and more time enjoying the month.
Ramadan Meal Prep
I know, I know…. “Is she going to tell me to meal prep AGAIN?” Yes, hi hello.
Unless it’s the weekend when I’m home the whole day, I have no time to prepare an elaborate iftar dinner. But, I want to eat well. This is where meal prepping comes in. During Ramadan, it feels even more important because you only have a short window before maghrib to get food on the table.
It works the same way as always for me: a quick weekend planning session followed by ingredient prep.
By planning ahead, you can spend less time in the kitchen and more time focusing on what truly matters—faith, family, and rest. Just a little prep work over a weekend means fewer last-minute scrambles and stress in the kitchen throughout the week!
Plus, with the right approach, you can enjoy nourishing, delicious meals without sacrificing too much time or effort.
How to Make Ramadan Cooking Effortless
SO if you want to save time and energy while still enjoying delicious meals, here are my best meal prep hacks for Ramadan:
- Plan ahead – A simple weekend planning session helps you avoid decision fatigue during the week.
- Prep ingredients in advance – Marinate meats, chop veggies, and portion out pantry staples ahead of time. Having ingredients prepped means cooking takes minutes.
- Use your kitchen appliances – The rice cooker, air fryer, and slow cooker are lifesavers for hands-off cooking.
- Batch cook when possible – Make extra portions of sauces, soups, and curries to store for busy days.
- Keep suhoor simple, but effective – Quick, nutrient-packed meals will keep you energised.
- Freezer-Friendly Ramadan Meals – What can you prep in advance and freeze for last minute Ramadan meals?
- Smart Leftover Hacks – Repurpose leftovers into new dishes. For example, last night’s rendang can be today’s quick fried rice stir fry.
- Make iftar feel special – Ramadan is a time of joy, so enjoy meals that feel a little extra!
By following these tips, you’ll spend less time worrying about food and more time enjoying the blessings of Ramadan.
How I Personally Prep for Ramadan

Ramadan is always a special time for me and my family. The days feel different, the evenings are filled with warmth, and of course—the food becomes something to look forward to.
Over the years, I’ve learned that the key to stress-free cooking in Ramadan is sticking to what works while making small tweaks to fit the month’s unique rhythm.
Suhoor: Keeping It Simple but Nutritious
I usually skip breakfast because I can’t stomach food too early, but suhoor is non-negotiable as it sets me up for the whole day. That’s why I keep it quick, simple, and satisfying.
Some of my go-to suhoor meals:
- Overnight oats – Easy to prep ahead, packed with protein and fibre, yummy! No cooking needed!
- Soupy noodles and porridge – Easy to prep and reheat. It’s also comforting and gentle on the stomach.
- Iftar leftovers! – If there are any leftovers from Iftar the night before, reheat it and eat.
- Dates & Water – On mornings where I’ve woken up later than supposed to (oops!), some bites of dates and plenty of water is my go-to.
- Or better yet! My electrolyte water: a mixture of water, chia seeds, pinch of salt and a squeeze of lemon or lime juice.
Iftar: Every Meal is a Special Occasion!
Iftar meals are always a little special in my household. Growing up, my mother made it a point to serve us special dishes, so we look forward to this month every year! It’s Mom’s way of rewarding the kids for fasting the whole day… and I can confirm that it’s extra motivation for us to last the day.
It’s a fun tradition I carry through to my adulthood. I never go for the usual everyday meals; instead, I love switching things up.
Whether it’s a dish we don’t often make, or getting something indulgent from the many Ramadan bazaars that pop up this time of year, I treat Iftar as a moment to celebrate the day’s fast. Variety is key!

Stay Hydrated While Fasting: Easy Electrolyte Water
I get thirsty really easily, so in recent years this is the concoction I’ve been making to stay hydrated throughout the day during Ramadan.
Simple, effective, and easy to prep in advance.
Key Ingredients & Why They Matter:
- 500 ml water or coconut water – hydration base; coconut water adds natural electrolytes.
- 2 tsp chia seeds – absorb water and create a gentle gel, helping hydration last longer.
- 1 tsp salt – replenishes sodium lost through sweat. Sea salt or himalayan pink salt preferable.
- Juice of 1/4 lemon or ½ lime – flavour and potassium! Also helps with digestion.
- 1 tsp sugar or honey (optional) – I usually skip this, but this will give quick energy and helps electrolyte absorption.
- Optional extras – mint leaves, cucumber slices, or apple (or fruit slices).
Just mix these in a tumbler, and sip!
Tips & Tricks:
- Let chia seeds soak for 5–10 minutes before drinking so they expand.
- Make ahead and keep in the fridge for suhoor or iftar.
