How I Personally Prep for Ramadan
Ramadan is always a special time for me and my family. The days feel different, the evenings are filled with warmth, and of course—the food becomes something to look forward to. Over the years, I’ve learned that the key to stress-free cooking in Ramadan is sticking to what works while making small tweaks to fit the month’s unique rhythm.
Suhoor: Keeping It Simple but Nutritious
Let’s be honest—no one wants to sacrifice sleep for cooking at 4 AM. Which is why I keep my suhoor quick, simple, and filling.
Some of my go-to suhoor meals:
Overnight oats – Easy to prep ahead, packed with protein and fibre, yummy! No cooking needed!
Soupy noodles and porridge – Easy to prep and reheat. It’s also comforting and gentle on the stomach.
Iftar leftovers! – If there are any leftovers from Iftar the night before, reheat it and eat!
Dates & Water – On mornings where I’ve woken up later than supposed to (oops!), some bites of dates and plenty of water is my go-to.
Iftar: Every Meal is a Special Occasion!
Iftar meals are always a little special in my household. Growing up, my Mom made it a point to serve us special dishes, so we look forward to this month every year! It’s Mom way of rewarding the kids for fasting the whole day… and I can confirm that it’s extra motivation for us to last the day.
