I love palettes for traveling. The Becca x Chrissy Glow Face Palettes is one of my top favourites. Read on for the review and swatches.
Becca makes my most favourite highlighter formulas ever in their shimmering skin perfectors. Unfortunately they do not travel well. Behold my many-times-damaged-and-relentlessly-patched Champagne Pop:
So when I saw the Becca x Chrissy Glow Face Palette in-stores, and how solid the casing was, I had to get it. Today it’s probably one of my favourite, favourite, palettes to bring on my travels.
The palette has a pink marbly casing and feels super luxe. It’s a solid case with a huge mirror that I appreciate and have used on many occasion. The palette appears large, but it’s easy to pack along for me. It’s a symmetrical, flat square that I can easily fit in any of my makeup bags.
The palette comes with a bronzer, a blush, and two beautiful highlighters. I love this palette because this is all I need for a complete look. I can easily use the bronzer as warming eye contour, and Rose Gold has enough pigment for the most lovely eyeshadow.
Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter – Beach Nectar
This is a palette exclusive, described as a juicy apricot with glimmering gold.
Beach Nectar is probably my favourite highlighter shade from Becca – even more so than, dare I say it, Champagne Pop. It looks more – i don’t want to say subtle, because there’s pigment, but this somehow blends so seamlessly into my skin to provide the most effortless glow.
Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter – Rose Gold
A softly shimmering gold infused with “sweet rose”. Rose Gold is not a palette exclusive and part of their permanent line of shimmering skin perfectors.
This leaves the most natural pinky sheen on my skin. This works great on my MAC NC42/Fenty 310 skin right now, but when I get even more tan, this looks even more beautiful. Layered over a bronzer, this is gorgeous too. This has a lot more pink to it, so it can add a lot of life like a blush would. I have texture so I only apply this to my cheekbones. As I’ve said, I’ve loved brushing this on my eyelids as eyeshadow too.
Sunlit Bronzer – Malibu Soleil
Described as a medium amber, Malibu Soleil is one of my top favourites for bronzers. There’s shimmer in the bronzer in the pan, but it’s invisible on the skin. I was afraid it might come off too dark on me in the pan, but then I swirled it on and my face warms up just the right amount.
Luminous Blush – Hibiscus Bloom
A blooming golden-pink with a hint of radiant coral.
The only item I would change in the palette is the blush, Hibiscus Bloom. It’s a bright fuschia pink that requires a very light hand to apply with, which I’m not too excited about, because I’m a slap-and-swirl kinda gal. I prefer mixing the blush with the bronzer and that combo is a more flattering colour on me.
I know what you’re thinking – wha’ ha’ happened to Rose Gold?!?! Stupidly enough, I got frisky one night and attempted to depot Rose Gold with a pair of scissors.
Yeah. Needless to say, things did not turn out well. I caused a dent at a corner of the pan instead, loosening the integrity of the highlighter. The next time I travelled with it, it had broken into huge pieces. So I destroyed the whole thing and patched it back up with rubbing alcohol. Been good ever since, though it has lost the pretty pressed state. Oh, and I got a separate pan of Rose Gold.
All in all, it’s not easy to find a decent all-in-one face palettes for travel. This palette is one of the most effortless ones I’ve come across.
The full face:
Bronzer on cheeks and eye crease.
Rose Gold on cheekbones and patted on the eyelids.
Beach Nectar on top of Rose Gold, inner corner of the eyes, below the brows, down the nose and cupid’s bow.
Hibiscus Bloom just on the apples of the cheeks.
Lips are Kylie Cosmetics lip liner in Autumn, topped with Fenty Beauty’s Gloss Bomb.
