As we bid adieu to April, I thought it might be interesting to do a beauty roundup of sorts of the things that I’ve been loving the past month. All of these items are either beauty discoveries while I was travelling, or staples that were in my travel beauty kit.
Too Faced Born This Way Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer in Warm Sand
I have the Born This Way Multi-Use Concealer in the shade Warm Beige and I use it on the daily. It’s my favourite concealer of all time. One of my girlfriends told me she uses it as foundation and I was intrigued. I typically blend out Warm Beige from under my eyes to my cheeks anyway, and always thought I like how easy it spreads and sets. Warm Beige is perfect as a highlighting concealer for under my eyes, but it’s much too light for the rest of my face so I got Warm Sand for the rest of my face. Warm Sand is a tad dark and leans pinky on me, but I mix in a bit of Warm Beige to get my shade. They’ve introduced some new shades between Warm Beige and Warm Sand so I’m patiently waiting for them to eventually reach Singapore shores.
I use very little dots of this on parts of my face where I need coverage and buff it out as a light foundation. This is my current go-to face base. The finish is a beautiful satin that can become dewy later in the day, but nothing a little oil blotter can’t help it. It’s smaller than a bottle of regular foundation, making this one of my travel kit staples.
Merrez’ca Lip & Cheek Moisturizer Tint in Tulip
Merrez’ca is a Thai beauty brand that I discovered one bored afternoon in a Bangkok shopping mall. Since then, I keep seeking out Merrez’ca counters for new offerings. They borrow a lot of influence from K-Beauty and their products are actually made in Korea, perhaps a little more punched up in shades.
Their lip and cheek tint sticks have been my daily go-tos. I adore the colour Tulip, this mauvey pink shade. As its name suggests, this is a hydrating and glossy tint, quite most Korean tints that I’ve tried. They don’t have much of an online presence, but they are active on Facebook and Instagram. I wish they’re a lot more accessible then they are currently, because they’ve a lot of quality products.
A review of this brand coming up soon.
Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow
I’m not a gloss girl at all, but when Sephora had its 20% VIB sale, I literally bought the hype. I’ve been using the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow Everyday since I purchased it. I use it over tints, and I enjoy layering it one throughout the day when my dry lips need some plumping boost. Oh and it smells (and tastes) heavenly.
Fenty Beauty Shimmer Match Stix in Yacht Lyfe
I’ve always loved the Fenty Beauty Matchstixs (Matchstixx?). I had Ridiic and Rum, and I decided they needed a more pinkier mate. Yacht Lyfe is a gorgeous pinky coral with gold shimmers. As expected, it’s ultra pretty. I’ve been using this after my yoga showers as a quick blush-and-highlighter combo. You know, for that (fake) flushed post-workout glow.
I use this on my lips for a bit of colour, and top it off with the Gloss Bomb. So effortless, I could cry.
Fenty Beauty Portable Touch-Up Brush
This Touch-Up Brush is meant to be used with the Fenty Invisimatte Blotting Powder. One day I used it to blend out my cream blushes instead, and I’ve never used it for the powder since then. I use it to blend out Yacht Lyfe and the Merrez’ca tint with the Fenty Touch-Up brush as well. I’ve used it to blend out cream bronzers too and it worked well. I don’t know what the science and logic is, but this is the best cream blending brush that I’ve used. It’s portable and tiny too so it’s perfect for travel.
LVLY Lipbalm
I was in dire need of a lipbalm while in Prague and purchased this with not much expectations. I ended up loving this and I’ve been using it every single day. Why did I not purchase more while I was in Europe. This seems like an elusive brand; I can’t even find it on Amazon. If anyone knows how I can get my hands on the LVLY Lipbalm – short of flying to European drugstores and stockpiling this – hit me up.
The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion
When I was travelling Europe earlier this month, I only had one step in my skincare routine. Well, after double cleansing that is. I’ve only been using The Ordinary’s Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion . I’ve been using this for almost three months now and while I’ve not experienced any long term effects, this does keep my skin clear, hydrated, and glowy.
I’ll be doing a full review of this soon.
Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream
Although The Ordinary’s Granactive Retinoid is a mild form of Vitamin A, it’s still an exfoliating solution that “works” the skin. To help calm the skin in the day time, I’ve been enjoying using the Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream underneath my sunscreen. Although the name says “rich”, this doesn’t feel heavy or greasy at all. It slips on so easily, and absorbs quickly. Skin just feels comfortable and hydrated.
