About Nomadette

Hello!

Welcome to Nomadette!

Your home for bold, comforting, and truly craveable Asian recipes.

Hey there! I’m Sha, the home cook and food lover behind Nomadette Eats.

If you’re anything like me, you love food that’s full of flavour but not full of stress. That’s exactly what I share here: recipes that are exciting, approachable, and made for real life; whether you’re juggling work, kids, or just trying to survive the 6 p.m. “What’s for dinner?” panic.

Based in Singapore, I specialize in quick, easy, and flavour-packed Asian recipes. At the same time, I’m passionate about documenting and preserving heritage recipes from my Malay roots and beyond. This blog is a space where cherished family recipes are celebrated alongside fresh, approachable dishes you can make any day of the week.

Malay Magic

Part of the reason why I started documenting recipes were to preserve the dishes that I grew up with.

Whenever my relatives and I gather at the dining table, we always end up reminiscing about the dishes my grandma used to make. There’s often a quiet regret that some of those recipes have been lost, because no one thought to learn them while she was still around.

With this blog, I want to keep those flavours alive and help you bring a little piece of my heritage into your own kitchen; whether you’re a seasoned cook or just starting out.

My culinary love story began with my heritage: Malay cuisine. The aromatic spices, aromatic herbs, and bold flavours of Malay dishes have always held a special place in my heart. From the classic rendang to the fiery sambal, I’ve mastered the art of infusing traditional recipes with love and authenticity, just like my Mom and my Grandma did!

If you’re new to Malay cuisine, start here:

If you’re new to Malay cooking, you might want to start with some of my favourites like ayam masak merah (a savoury tomato chicken stew), beef rendang (that slow-cooked, rich dry curry), or sayur lemak lodeh (vegetables in a creamy coconut gravy). These are the kinds of dishes that feel like home to me, and I hope they’ll become part of your kitchen too.

Make Weeknights Easier

While I love heritage recipes and keeping traditions alive, I’m also someone who absolutely refuses to stay in the kitchen longer than necessary. Most nights, I just want something fast, flavourful, and satisfying, and I know you probably do too.

That’s why you’ll also find plenty of quick recipes here, from 30-minute dinners to rice cooker hacks, easy weeknight stir-fries, instant noodle glow-ups, and air fryer favourites.

Whether you’re just getting started with Asian cooking or grew up with sambal in your soul, this blog is here to help you bring more variety, excitement, and comfort to your meals without overcomplicating things. I want this space to feel like a breath of fresh air, a place where food feels less like a chore and more like a creative, grounding part of your day.

You’ll find everything from quick dinners to one-pot meals, cozy noodle bowls, and hearty rice dishes. I also share practical tips, pantry-friendly ingredient swaps, and modern takes on classic recipes… Basically, anything that makes life in the kitchen a little easier and a lot more delicious.

I wrote a cookbook!

Effortless Asian Cooking is my debut book, and it’s filled with over 70 flavour-packed recipes made for busy weeknights, tight budgets, and anyone who wants to eat well without fuss. These are the recipes I turn to again and again, the ones I make when I’m tired but still want something that hits the spot.

I find it strangely calming to sit with a stack of cookbooks, an open webpage, a hot cup of coffee, and plan out what I’m going to cook for the week. If that sounds like your kind of vibe, I hope my book becomes a staple on your shelf too.

You can grab your copy of Effortless Asian Cooking here.

Happy cooking and chat soon!

xoxo
